Guess what! Making people happy also makes YOU happy.

Practice sharing kindness as often as possible. You never know what someone else is going through and how much impact your words/actions can have. Challenge yourself to be the reason someone smiles today.

1.) Give someone a genuine compliment.

Be specific and keep it simple! Follow up with a related question for an easy conversation starter. Some examples are: “I love the way that shirt makes your eyes pop! Where did you get it?” or “I love your taste in music. Do you have any recs?”

2.) Pay for the car behind you in a drive-thru.

If this has ever happened to you, then you know how nice of a surprise it is to receive! If you want to do this, but you’re tight on cash. You can always opt to pay for individual items on the bill (like a coffee or sandwich). It’s more about the gesture than how much you spend anyway.

3.) Leave a review for goods/services.

This is an easy way to support small/local businesses and the people who made your experience great. If an employee was exceptionally awesome, ask for their name to be included in your review.

4.) Hold the door open for someone.

Make them feel extra special by giving a big smile & greeting when doing so.

5.) Send flowers/Send a plant.

Grab a bouquet or plant within your price range and deliver it to a loved one. Trader Joe’s usually has great deals on their flowers!

6.) Leave a handwritten note.

Texts and calls are nice, but handwritten notes add an extra touch of sentiment. It could be something as simple as: “I love you!”, “I hope you have a great day”, I appreciate you”, etc.

7.) Do an extra chore around the house.

Maybe your fridge could use a good clean, or the linen closet could be reorganized. Regardless of what it is, the people you live with will appreciate you taking the initiative.

8.) Send a recommendation to someone.

This could be a book, movie, song, etc. It doesn’t matter what it is, because it shows that you were thinking of that person!

9.) Donate items/your time.

There are endless organizations that need support. Donate items & inquire about volunteering. Research places in your area and find out how you can help.

10.) Bake treats.

Whatever you choose to make will be fine. Share with friends and family. Bring with you to school or work. Make sure to save one for yourself, too! 😉
