Book Review For 2023!

I think I’m a little late for this New Year trend, but it’s better late than never right?

I have read 16 books in 2023, which doesn’t seem like a lot. However, 2023 was one of my busiest years, so I read during my free time! I also got a Kindle for Christmas, so I’m 100% reading more books this year.

Here are 5 of my favorite books I have read in 2023, I can’t wait to share them with you all!

1.) Carrie Soto is Back

Carrie Soto is Back is one of my all-time favorite books, and comes in as number one this year. I am a huge Taylor Jenkins Reid fan, and this is the fifth book I’ve read of hers. I love that all of her characters are connected in a way, and how realistic they feel. Carrie Soto is an iconic character and woman figure, which makes the reader adore this book even more.

2.) Funny You Should Ask

If I’m being completely honest, this book gave me the idea to create Girlhood as a blog. This book is outrageously funny, and the dynamic between the two main characters is to die for. It’s incredibly creative for the author to add little “blogs” in the books, as it gives a unique perspective to the characters. If you love a good rom-com, this one is for you!

3.) The Housemaid

I read this one on my way up to the mountain, and I finished it the same day. I couldn’t stop shaking and flipping the pages, it is so good! There were so many plot twists that my mouth was open the whole time. I want to read more books from this author because I heard she was brilliant at writing thriller novels like this one!

4.) This Is Not a Personal Statement

This is for all of you high school seniors. This book was relatable and incredibly honest about acceptance and reaching your goals. I picked this up at a bookstore, and I’m so surprised that it isn’t as popular as it is right now. However, when you read, you must remember that it’s fictional and not to “try it at home”! (You will know once you read it).

5.) The Summer of Broken Rules

SO CUTE! This is one of the YA romance books that make me giggle and kick my feet up and down. The main character is actually enjoyable and makes me miss summer more than I do already. If you enjoy Better Than the Movies, then this novel should be on your list!

Honorable Mentions: Strange the Dreamer & Everything I Know About Love

I talk more about these books on another blog! If you want to read it, here is the link: https://www.thegirlhood.org/blog-4-1/our-top-10-favorite-reads

Happy Reading! <3
